Do we want to change the ways the sea areas are used now and in the future?
The Plan4Blue final conference programme was held in Helsinki on 4 – 5 June 2019. Our Professor of Econometrics Tiiu Paas gave a presentation ”The role of quantitative research in the process of creating the alternative scenarios".
Prof. Tiiu Paas, Maryna Tverdostup, Gaygysyz Ashyrov and Annika Jaansoo also presented the results of their research group, what was used to work out sea areas scenarios. In this project, attention was focused on visualization and interaction with practitioners.
Everyone were satisfied with with the end result what the reasearch group presented. Also, they are planning to continue cooperation.
The Plan4Blue project presents four scenarios for how our choices will affect people and the marine nature in the Gulf of Finland and the Archipelago Sea. The short animation presents four alternative future scenarios: “Unlimited growth”, “Virtual reality”, “Sustainability above all!” and “Sustainability dilemma”.
More detailed information on how the alternative scenarios would affect different sectors can be found in the infographs and scenario report: https://www.syke.fi/download/noname/%7BF320DF76-5122-47DC-B870-32C54070550F%7D/145214
