Professor Maaja Vadi awarded with the Order of the White Star
President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid awarded the economist and psychologist Professor Maaja Vadi with the fourth class of the Order of the White Star for her service as the pioneer in the research area of organisational behaviour and the founder of its school.
President Kersti Kaljulaid awarded state decorations to 112 people in appreciation of their services to Estonia before the 101th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.
Professor Maaja Vadi’s contribution to improving the quality of corporate governance and preparing for a new generation of managers is highly valued. Under her guidance 15 doctoral degrees and over 150 master's theses have been defended.
The role of Professor Maaja Vadi in helping shape the terminology in Estonian in her subject field is invaluable as she has published five textbooks in Estonian.
According to colleagues, Maaja Vadi holds the sea very close to her heart, but even more the island of Kihnu, where she is from."The family and traditions hold a special importance to her. As her colleagues, we have felt that family is not limited to only the family members who are waiting and supporting her between home walls," they have said, "Family, unity and mutual support are the values she carries with her at work“.
Maaja Vadi was the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in 2011-2014. She has been the Head of the Scool of Economics and Business Administration as of 2016.
