Creating a start-up. Digital and creative business

Gain a profound understanding of entrepreneurship and immerse yourself in various forms, ranging from creative and technological, to knowledge-based, with our program. Taught by exceptional professors from the University of Tartu and renowned entrepreneurs, the program equips students with the necessary skills to explore numerous aspects of entrepreneurship, including generating startup ideas, securing funding, mastering business planning, managing intellectual property, and perfecting marketing and branding strategies.

Our dynamic curriculum incorporates lectures, engaging business games, collaborative group work, and challenging business case exercises, as well as expert-led master classes and company visits.

Everyone who wants to learn entrepreneurial skills, start their own company, and already has some experience, as well as those who want to expand their knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship, are invited to learn. The program also is suitable for managers, consultants, public sector officials (eg public sector special subject managers)

The lecturers are UT lecturers with long-term experience and practitioners from various Estonian companies, including Tartu Creative Industry Center.

Course students have the opportunity to be part of a unique program that includes visits to museums, galleries, cinemas, and the Tartu Centre for Creative Industries. Through close collaboration with representatives from creative enterprises, students get to see how major events are organised. In the spring of 2023, this included the Estonian Fashion Festival. The entire course provides a comprehensive overview of how entrepreneurship operates in the fields of culture, film, art galleries, and many other areas.

KNOWLEDGE, the students get:

  1. understanding the process of new venture creation;
  2. understanding how to deal with stakeholders;
  3. understanding how to consider IP, financies, risks, business planing, marketing, consumer

SPECIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCES, the student:

  1. able to create strategy, business model of new venture, business plan.
  2. able to analyse consumer behaviour, elaborate data-driven decision.
  3. able to use digital tools for marketing strategy planning.


KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCES, the student:

  1. can analyse and shape entrepreneurial process, strategy and business models ;
  2. can manage teams to lead innovation.

If you have completed your previous studies outside the University of Tartu, it is necessary to submit a document proving your education.
