Innovation and Technology Management Program Trains Future Business Leaders

For Whom Is This Program Designed?

The Innovation and Technology Management program is a uniquely designed curriculum, to train business leaders with a profound ability to implement ICT solutions within company processes. Graduates of the program possess analyze and interpret data of companies from strategic and operational level, develop innovative and digital products and strategies. Therefore, the program is implemented jointly by the School of Economics and Business Administration and the Institute of Computer Science.

What Students Delve Into

This program is divided into modules: Basic, Digital Business Analysis, Innovation Management, Optional Courses, and a master's thesis. Throughout their academic journey, students engage with array of courses that prime them for careers in leading Estonian and international corporations. Courses such as Data Munging, Visualization and Communication, Decision Making and Choice Behavior, Business Data Analytics, Business Process Management, Software Product Management, Business Growth Strategies, Customer Relationship Management & Analysis, Operations and Supply Chain Management are among the highlights.

Two Diplomas for Two Years (Double Degree Program with the University of Ghent, Belgium) and International Experience

We are currently in the process of finalizing a double degree agreement with the MA in Business Engineering program at Ghent University, Belgium. Ghent University is a prestigious partner, ranked 74th in the Shanghai Ranking and 95th in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Ranking for 2022-23. Notably, their faculty holds prestigious AACSB accreditation.

The double degree program offers students several compelling advantages. First, students can obtain two diplomas from the University of Tartu and Ghent University within just two years of study. Second, they have the unique opportunity to split their studies between Estonia and Belgium. Thirdly, students benefit from international experience, studying alongside peers from Ghent University, attending lectures from professors at both institutions, and receiving dual guidance on their master's theses. Finally, this program fosters an enriching intercultural experience, providing insights into the cultures of both Estonia and Belgium.

Fostering Business Partnerships

This program maintains a partnership with the business, staying attuned to emerging trends and training specialists in close collaboration with industry leaders. Students take internships at leading banks and companies, both in Estonia and abroad, with the opportunity to complete internships through the Erasmus program. Furthermore, their master's theses benefit from the dual guidance of professors and s business experts. For instance, several theses have been led by experts from SEB Bank, covering topics such as "Silver Economy in the Banking Sector," "Data Literacy in Organizations," and "Innovation in Corporates: A Study of Key Metrics for Measuring Success in Corporate Innovation Processes within the Financial Sector."

Interesting Research

The preparation of master's theses is structured to empower students to choose topics that truly ignite their passion. These topics are proposed by esteemed professors from the School of Economics and Business Administration and Institute of Computer Science. Examples of past theses include "Nexus Between Process Automation and Corruption," "Internationalization of IT Consultancy Firm - A Strategy Driven Approach," and "Triple Helix Model in Startup Incubators." Additionally, students enjoy the unique privilege of dual supervision, where professors and industry experts collaborate to guide them.

Unlocking Career Prospects 

Graduates of Innovation and Technology Management program easily find work in the largest companies in Estonia such as Bolt, TransferWise, Nordea Bank, Swedbank,  as well as in foreign companies. Some students have entered PhD programs and are successfully building bright academic career.
