Successful Launch of the oiAcademy's Tartu Programme Ignition Workshop

The oiAcademy's Tartu pilot program kicked off with its first event, the Ignition Workshop, marking a triumphant start to this innovative series. The workshop, held at the Delta Centre in room 1018, witnessed an overwhelming turnout with a full house of enthusiastic participants. Approximately 100 attendees, comprising students, industry professionals, and academic mentors, gathered to witness the unfolding of this unique educational initiative.

The Ignition Workshop served as the inaugural event for the oiAcademy's series of seminars aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry. The primary focus of this workshop was to introduce the participants to the oiAcademy, acquaint them with the EIT training platform skills.move, and most importantly, to unveil the real-world challenges presented by various esteemed companies.

In an atmosphere brimming with excitement and curiosity, four prominent companies took the stage to present their distinct challenges to the students. These companies, known for their innovation and industry leadership, included:

  • Leidi Consult OÜSince 2001, their main focus has been on the design, production, sale, and installation of ion heating systems, both in Estonia and internationally. Additionally, they have been involved in the production, importation, sale, and installation of alternative energy equipment since 2003, including solutions for solar heating, solar power supply, wind power, heat pumps, and co-generation plants, tailored to customer needs
  • R-S OSA Service OÜOSA Service is engaged in a transformative project in Northern Europe, focusing on the upcycling of oil shale ash. Their innovative approach converts this ash into ultra-pure calcium carbonate and lime fertilizer, while also capturing significant amounts of carbon dioxide, thereby addressing environmental concerns and transforming waste into valuable resources
  • AS HANZA Mechanics TartuHANZA Mechanics Tartu specializes in manufacturing for medical and food industry sectors. Their services include sheet metal production (cutting, bending, punching, welding, powder coating), machining (milling, turning, grinding, EDM, surface treatment), and cabling (cutting, crimping, marking, assembly). They excel in assembling fully functional and tested products, providing comprehensive manufacturing solutions.
  • OÜ YANU. Yanu is renowned for being the world's first fully autonomous A.I. and robot-powered bartending unit, which not only serves drinks and handles payments but also identifies and communicates with clients. Beyond its advanced technology and sleek design, Yanu is distinguished by its unique personality, offering an almost supernatural yet tangible bartending experience.
  • SteelMonitor OÜ. Steelmonitor is a platform specializing in the sales and procurement of steel profiles. Their software streamlines the ordering process, offering benefits like time and space savings, cost-effectiveness, and environmental conservation.

Each company brought forth a unique set of problems, providing the students with a diverse range of real-world scenarios to tackle.

The workshop not only provided a platform for these companies to present their challenges but also allowed students to engage directly with industry leaders, fostering an environment of learning and collaboration. The students were assigned to teams, setting the stage for them to brainstorm, innovate, and devise solutions to these real-world challenges with the guidance of mentors and coaches.

As the oiAcademy's Tartu pilot program progresses, the Ignition Workshop has set a high standard for the upcoming events. It has successfully laid the groundwork for a series of seminars that promise to be not only educational but also instrumental in shaping the future careers of the participating students

Following the successful Ignition Workshop of the oiAcademy, all participants have now been integrated into the Eventonado platform. Here, teams are being formed to encourage collaborative efforts among students as they tackle the challenges presented. Simultaneously, these students are engaged in learning various materials on the skills.move platform (www.skillsmove.eu), enriching their educational experience and fostering a practical understanding of the concepts discussed during the workshop. This initiative not only emphasizes teamwork but also integrates practical learning with theoretical knowledge, enhancing the overall educational impact.

Stay tuned for more updates as the oiAcademy continues to foster innovation and collaboration through its unique educational platform.
