From Exploring Business to Finding My Path in Finance

What attracted me to Business Administration was its broad curriculum. I had the opportunity to study finance, accounting, marketing, economics, human resources, and many other subjects. This gave me an understanding of how each of these disciplines contributes to how businesses and economies function, and how they are interconnected. Looking back, exploring these different fields helped me discover what genuinely interested me and identify the area I wanted to specialise in.

I had a very positive study experience. What I appreciated most was that the courses were not limited to theory. Many included practical exercises, simulations, case studies, and group projects that allowed us to apply what we learned. I especially enjoyed the finance courses. They were challenging, but that was exactly what made them engaging and rewarding.

One thing that made studying special was the environment. Tartu is a true student city, where almost everything is within walking distance. It made everyday life convenient and helped me balance my studies, different activities, and time with friends. What I appreciated most, though, was how approachable everyone was. Whether it was lecturers, administrative staff, or fellow students, I always felt supported and knew there was someone willing to help.

Beyond the academic knowledge I gained, the programme taught me to be more independent and proactive, work effectively with people from different backgrounds, and adapt to new situations. Through group projects, internships, and extracurricular activities, I learned to step outside my comfort zone. Most importantly, the programme gave me the confidence to make decisions about my future by helping me better understand my interests and strengths.

One of my extracurricular experiences was an internship at the University of Tartu Neuromarketing Lab, where I worked on consumer behaviour research using eye-tracking technology. I recruited participants, conducted experiments, and contributed to several research projects. In addition to developing research skills, the experience made me much more confident in approaching and communicating with strangers. Recruiting participants required taking initiative, starting conversations with new people, and becoming comfortable in situations that initially felt outside my comfort zone. I also volunteered at Delta Trends Day, where I helped promote the event through the university's social media channels and interviewed experts during the conference. This experience allowed me to be creative, take ownership of my work, and interact with professionals from different fields. It also gave me a behind-the-scenes perspective on organizing a large university event. Beyond these experiences, I attended many seminars on topics such as artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity, which broadened my perspective beyond the classroom.

I would recommend this programme to someone who is curious and looking for a well-rounded education. Its curriculum combines knowledge from different business disciplines with practical experience, making it a great choice for students who want to keep their career options open while building a strong foundation.

After graduating from the BBA, I decided to continue my studies in the master’s programme in Quantitative Economics at the University of Tartu. I want to explore this field in greater depth, strengthen my knowledge of economics and quantitative methods, and pursue a career in finance.
