Tiiu Paas is Awarded with the Order of the White Star, IV Class

Congratulations! Our esteemed emeritus professor, Tiiu Paas, has been awarded the Order of the White Star, IV Class! The President of the Republic of Estonia, Alar Karis, has recognized Tiiu Paas for her outstanding contribution as an economist. Throughout her career at the University of Tartu, Tiiu has played a key role in developing research and education, being a highly valued mentor and scholar.

Tiiu Paas has authored over 200 scientific publications and is the author and editor of several economic books. She published the first Estonian-language econometrics textbook, "Introduction to Econometrics" (1995), along with numerous other textbooks and study materials. Under her supervision and co-supervision, many student theses have been successfully defended, including nine doctoral dissertations, several of which have received recognition in student research competitions.

Tiiu Paas has taught students at all levels of study, focusing on research methodology and quantitative methods for analyzing and forecasting socio-economic processes. Her lectures on econometrics, statistical and econometric methods, and mathematical economics have helped shape numerous economic experts and researchers.

Ahead of Estonia’s Independence Day, the President of the Republic of Estonia is awarding state decorations to 157 individuals whose dedication to their profession or community work has played a significant role in Estonia’s strength and resilience.
