On March 19 under the UT Idealab leadership interactive seminar on innovative learning methods took place at the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science in Kyiv.
On the 26th of March a topping out ceremony of Tartu University Delta building took place in Tartu.
The traditional topping out ceremony celebrated the maximum height of the building (20 meters).

This year two new University of Tartu subjects have entered the rankings of consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) – education ranked in the top 251–300 and business and management in the top 401–450.
Professor Toomas Haldma was elected for the position of Professor of Accounting on part-time basis at the Nord University in northern Norway on 1 January 2019.
Professor Haldma has been working closely with the university since 2010 co-supervising and reviewing doctoral theses and conducting visiting seminars. The lecturers from Bodo have contributed to our master and doctoral level courses and have taken part in doctoral summer school events. Prof Haldma will continue to work at our School.
The University of Tartu foundation has awarded the Ernst Jaakson scholarship to Oliver Lukason, a Senior Research Fellow of International Business and Finance.
Ernst Jaakson's scholarship is the largest known privately funded scholarship to be awarded to students and research fellows. The size of this award was 18 000 euros.

President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid awarded the economist and psychologist Professor Maaja Vadi with the fourth class of the Order of the White Star for her service as the pioneer in the research area of organisational behaviour and the founder of its school.
President Kersti Kaljulaid awarded state decorations to 112 people in appreciation of their services to Estonia before the 101th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.
The Council of the School of Economics and Business Administration elected Kadri Ukrainski, Professor in Research and Innovation Policy, to the position of Head of School. The term of the Head will begin on 16 February 2019 for a period of three years.
The finals of the students’ business ideas development programme Yep!Starter took place on 17 December in Kyiv. The winner of the main award, tickets and trip to Startup Day was Fonetify, whose browser extension helps to pronounce English text correctly.
The author of winning idea Serh Kruchok said that the Yep!Starter programme helped them to develop the idea. “Learning wasn’t always easy, but we got the necessary knowledge and contacts to launch our idea. We are very happy about the win and the opportunity to present our idea at Startup Day in Estonia.”
On Saturday, 1 December, the University of Tartu celebrates the 99th anniversary of the Estonian national university. At the anniversary ceremony, doctorates and honorary doctorates are conferred and the award for contribution to national identity is presented.
