Ott Pärna successfully defended his PhD thesis MANAGERIAL AND CONTEXTUAL FACTORS INFLUENCING INNOVATION IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY-BASED PUBLIC SECTOR SERVICES: AN EXPLORATORY CROSS-NATIONAL STUDY on 30 of December 2014. Supervisors: prof. emeritus Nick von Tunzelmann ((PhD), University of Sussex) and prof. Urmas Varblane (PhD).

2014 is the first time the Programme Director of the Year awards are given to recognise efficient work in developing a degree programme. The reason to establish such an award was the fact that curriculum development is one of the priorities of the University of Tartu and the programme directors’ contribution to ensuring the quality of teaching at the university is enormous. From the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Maret Ahonen, Programme Director of the bachelor's curriculum of Business Administration won the award for the best programme director 2014.

This autumn, 200 international students started their degree studies at the University of Tartu, which is 34% more than last year. Most international students come from Finland, Russia, Ukraine and India.

In addition, Martin Hõbemagi won the Junior Pentamind World Championship and Madli Mirme, UT student of Business Administration, won the Women’s Pentamind World Championship.
